Risk Assessment Policy

Aims 

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to ensure that: 

● All risks that may cause injury or harm to staff, pupils and volunteers are identified, and all reasonably practicable control measures are in place to avoid injury or harm. 

● Risk assessments are conducted and reviewed regularly. 

Supporting Pupils with Medical Conditions Policy

 Aims and Objectives

 This policy aims to:

  • Ensure pupils with medical conditions are properly supported and can take a full and active role in AP life.

  • Prevent pupils with medical conditions from being denied access to education or activities due to their health needs.

  • Ensure a clear, effective, and accessible framework for managing medical needs in the AP setting.

  • Detail the procedures for seamless communication and joint working with parents, other schools, local authorities, and healthcare professionals.

Recruitment and Selection Policy

Aims 

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to ensure that:

Records Retention and Disposal Policy

This policy outlines NeuroSparkly Advocates procedures for the retention, management, and secure disposal of all records. It ensures compliance with legal and statutory requirements, particularly the UK GDPR, DPA 2018, and relevant education and safeguarding legislation.

Staff Code of Contact Policy

Aims, Scope and Principles 

This policy aims to set and maintain standards of conduct that we expect all staff to follow. By creating this policy we aim to ensure an environment in which everyone is safe, happy, and treated with respect. Many of the principles in this Code of Conduct are based on the Teachers’ Standards, and we expect staff to act by them. Staff have an influential position and will serve as role models for young people by consistently demonstrating high standards of behaviour. Please note that this Code of Conduct is not exhaustive. If situations arise that are not covered by this code, staff will use their professional judgement and act in the best interests of NeuroSparkly Advocates and its young people.

Online Safety Policy

Aims 

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to: 

  • Have robust processes in place to ensure the online safety of pupils, staff and volunteers. 

  • Deliver a practical approach to online safety, which empowers us to protect and educate the whole community in its use of technology, including mobile and smart technology (which we refer to as mobile phones). 

  • Establish precise mechanisms to identify, intervene and escalate an incident where   appropriate.

Ongoing Staff and Volunteer Training, Monitoring, and Supervision Policy

 NeuroSparkly Advocates is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and reflective environment for all staff, volunteers, and contractors. This policy outlines our framework for ongoing training, monitoring, and supervision to ensure continuous development, maintain high standards of practice, and promote well-being. This policy is grounded in the principles of continuous professional development (CPD), fairness, accountability, and empowerment.

Lone Working Policy

Lone working is related to those staff working on their own with a pupil/pupils away from the school, during or outside of term time. Guidance and advice are taken from the Health and Safety Executive HSE website.

Health and Safety Policy

Aims 

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to: 

● Provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment. 

● Establish and maintain safe working procedures amongst staff, pupils and all stakeholders.

● Have robust procedures in place in case of emergencies. 

● Ensure that equipment is maintained safely and are regularly inspected.

First Aid Policy

The aims of this policy are to:

  • Ensure that immediate and appropriate first aid is available for all pupils, staff, and visitors while they are on-site or participating in off-site school activities.

  • Provide a framework for responding effectively to incidents and emergencies.

  • Fulfil the statutory obligations under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and other relevant guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Department for Education (DfE).

Equal Opportunities Policy

Aims 

NeuroSparkly Advocates  aims to meet its obligations under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) by having due regard to the need to: 

  •  Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.

  •  Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it. 

  • Foster good relations across all characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

Environmental Policy

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to promote sustainability, environmental awareness, and a positive learning environment for pupils, aligning with the UK's commitment to protecting the environment. Key aims include minimising resource use and waste, educating pupils and staff on environmental issues, fostering a connection to nature, creating well-maintained and inviting facilities, and incorporating environmental principles into all aspects of the alternative provision's operations.

Data Protection and GDPR Policy

NeuroSparkly Advocates  aims to ensure that all personal data collected about staff, pupils, parents, visitors and others is collected, stored and processed following UK data protection law. 

This policy applies to all personal data, regardless of whether it is in paper or electronic format.

Complaints Policy and Procedure

This complaints procedure is not limited to parents or carers of children supported by NeuroSparkly Advocates. Any person, including members of the public, may complain to NeuroSparkly Advocates about any provision or service it provides. We will not usually investigate anonymous complaints. This complaints procedure, which is committed to acting fairly and transparently, will be used unless handled under separate statutory procedures. NeuroSparkly Advocates is committed to acting fairly but firmly where its provision or the conduct of its staff has been less than satisfactory. Complaints are a valuable performance indicator and must be responded to sympathetically and consistently.

Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy

NeuroSparkly Advocates aims to ensure that: 

  • Appropriate action is taken in a timely manner to safeguard and promote children’s welfare. 

  • Staff are aware of their statutory responsibilities with respect to safeguarding.

  • Staff are properly trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding issues.

Business Continuity Plan

This Business Continuity Plan (BCP) outlines the arrangements to ensure NeuroSparkly Advocates can continue or rapidly resume its core services following a significant disruption.

 

It identifies critical activities, potential risks, recovery strategies, and contingency measures, while ensuring safeguarding remains paramount and COVID-secure practices are upheld.

Children Missing in Education Policy

All children, regardless of their circumstances, are entitled to an efficient, full time education which is suitable to their age, ability, aptitude and any special educational needs they may have (Children Missing in Education, Sept 2016). 

Children who are missing in education are those who are of compulsory school age who are not registered with a school or receiving suitable education outside of the school environment. Children who go missing in education are at risk of: 

● Underachieving 

● Being victims of harm 

● Exploitation or radicalisation 

● Becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training) in later life. 

There are many circumstances in which a child may become missing from education. Such reasons may include: 

● Pupils who are at risk of harm/neglect 

● Children of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller families 

● Children of Service Personnel 

● Missing children and runaways 

● Children who cease to attend school 

● Children of new migrant families 

Where there is a concern for the child’s welfare, the Child Protection Policy will be followed.

Behaviour Policy and Statement of Behaviour Principles

This policy aims to:

• Provide a consistent approach to behaviour management. 

• Define what we consider to be unacceptable behaviour, including bullying and discrimination. 

• Outline how young people are expected to behave.

• Summarise the roles and responsibilities of different people with regards to behaviour management. 

• Outline our system of rewards and sanctions. 

Admissions and Attendance Policy

This policy aims to:

  • Clearly define the referral and admission process for children who require a place at NeuroSparkly Advocates.

  • Explain how to apply for a place at NeuroSparkly Advocates.

  • Set out the arrangements for allocating places.

  • outline expectations for attendance, and work in partnership with families to address barriers to attendance and improve outcomes.
